In life we all make poor choices or mistakes. At Soaring Above Teen Center we teach that those are events in our lives, they are not who we are.
Sometimes those choices or actions come with a price. Maybe a punishment, a fine and maybe even a scar or two.
We have to pay whatever the price is for those actions and it may take some time to recover from that poor choice or decision. However, if we make it right, on those actions, we are truly sorry and learn from the event, we can use that as part of our testimony.
We all have a past, we all have some sort of regret, it is what we do with the lesson that defines us, not the event.
If you continue to go back and reenact those poor choices, the consequences haven’t been painful enough to make you stop. Hopefully, you can stop walking that path over and over again, before It is truly too late.
You shouldn’t be proud of the mistake that you made. You should be proud of using that mistake to make a positive difference in someone else’s life. A testimony shows how you overcame, whatever in your past. Be proud of the recovery and how you’re using that mistake to help others.
Some of my past I truly am not proud of. However, I am truly proud of how it turned into something amazing; Soaring Above Teen Center and the over 1,000 members that we’ve been able to help mentor, graduate from school and give them opportunities that maybe they wouldn’t have had otherwise.
What do you do with your mistakes or poor choices? Do you wear them for everyone to see as a failure, including yourself? Or do you use them to show what an overcomer looks like?
Just a thought from my man in the mirror to the person in yours. They truly can be just events, not who we are. God bless. Have an amazing day.
